FEES
Edward Stone uses three types of retainer agreements
for family law clients, depending on the facts and the
complexity
of each case. Two are based on Mr. Stone's hourly fee;
$195 per hour, the other based on a quoted flat fee.
The agreements are as follows:
Capped Hourly: This agreement is
used as often as possible in family law cases so the
client is aware of the maximum
possible fee. Mr. Stone will give a fee estimate based
on the assumption that the case will go to trial. The
work completed on the case will be billed on an hourly
basis,
but will not exceed the agreed-to capped amount. A retainer
equivalent to 2/3rds of the fee estimate is due before
Mr. Stone can enter his appearance on behalf of the client.
If the final hourly bill is less than the retainer, the
client will be reimbursed the unused portion of the retainer.
Straight
Hourly: This agreement is used in cases in which the
duration and complexity of the trial is not clear.
A standard retainer of $2,500 is due before Mr. Stone
can enter his appearance on behalf of a client.
Flat Fee: This
agreement is used in cases that are limited in scope.
Protective Order hearings and uncontested divorces
are generally the only type of family law proceedings
to which a flat fee applies. Mr. Stone charges $950 plus
costs
for protective order hearings and $700 plus filing fees
and costs for uncontested divorces.
* The above information
does not establish an attorney-client relationship. Clients
must execute written retainer agreements
for such a relationship to be established. If you have
